Hey everyone my name is Allie I’m 19 and a fellow marine wife, my husband and I actually just celebrated our 1 year anniversary yesterday (: we have a beautiful one month old daughter who’s hs us wrapped around her finger since day 1! I just recently found a job that allows me to be a stay at home mom and still make an average income of $800-1200 a month. hey Allie :) not to nosy lol but when did you and your marine get married? me and my marine are thinking about getting married once i graduate (and ill be 17) and i really cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him. even though we have only been going out for 8 months, i know that hes the one :) our relationship is very mature and we believe we are ready :) i just cant wait to see my handsome fiance again!

My husband and I got married in August, I just graduated in june and I turned 18 in April. We knew we were ment for eachother and we didnt let anybodys negative oppinions get in the way of us being together. I wish the best for you and your fiance:)

In a military relationship, deployment is inevitable and so is distance.
Whether it’s across the state, country or world, knowing that the one person you love with all of your heart is out of reach is extremely difficult.
There will be a time when you have to say goodbye. It could be for a few days or weeks or even months. No matter how long, the goodbyes are always difficult.
I’m not going to sugar coat it and tell you that it’ll be easier every time or that it’s not that bad…because it is. It sucks. It’s hard and you’re going to feel like your world is crashing down. You’re going to cry.

So cry. Complain. Bitch. Vent.
You WILL feel better after doing so.
Surround yourself with friends who will put up with it. (True friends will). Don’t be afraid. Crying isn’t a sign of weakness…it’s a sign that you’ve been strong for so long. Everyone has a moment of weakness…it’s what makes us stronger.

In the mean time, instead of dwelling on the amount of time it will be until you see the love of your life again, you have to think about the positives.

Positives to waiting:

that moment you see them for the first time in months will be incredible
the first kiss you’ll share when you finally see each other again will beunmatchable
if you can make it through a deployment, you know how strong your love truly is and you can make it through anything
you’ll realize how lucky you are to have someone so important to miss
your love will grow each and every day you’re apart

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve gone through a separation with your S/O. Whether it was boot camp or a deployment. We’ve all been there. But think back and remember.
Remember what is was like when that countdown got smaller and smaller….6 months…15 weeks…30 days….one week……tomorrow…
Remember the excitement you felt when those numbers got into the single digits?!
Remember what is was like to see your Sailor, Soldier, Airman or Marine for the first time in what felt like ages?
I know you do, because it’s a feeling nearly impossible to forget.

That feeling. That moment. That anxiousness and excitement will be back. It will be the same if not greater next time. You just have to get through it.

Deployments; 6-8 months, or even a year..and time between leave can feel like forever. But you have to remember…it’s not.
Forever is the time you will be together (especially if you’re a military wife).
Time apart is only temporary. It’s time for you both to grow individually and as a couple. It’s time for you to be strong and realize your potential.

For now, find things to keep you busy…
The only thing you can do is live each day, because each day will bring you closer and closer to being together.

I recommend:

find a book and read it (even a series)
check out my support groups «—— and make one of your own
make a video or picture collage
write in a journal (this helped me SO much)
take a picture every day of you doing something that reminds you of your S/O
exercise…it’s a great stress reliever and you’ll look and feel better
spend time with their family ( dinner & sitcoms are great!)
spend time with your family…though they may not understand, they’ll do their very best to try to and be there for you
DON’T WATCH ARMY WIVES. that’s just dumb
DON’T WATCH COMING HOME. until you’re countdown is closer (i made both of those mistakes, it really doesn’t help)
DON’T WATCH DEAR JOHN OR OTHER WAR MOVIES.
(seriously guys, i’d hope I wouldn’t have to tell you this)
Watch Disney movies..and comedies :)
Make plans…having things to look forward to helps break up the time.

There are plenty of things you can do to keep busy. Google it.
There are also hundreds of other people going through the same thing you are, so talk to people…meet people.
I met three of my best friends through an online support site and two years later I still don’t know what I’d do without them.

Most importantly, believe in yourself. Believe in your S/O and believe in your relationship. You chose this life. You can handle it. You have to handle it, because you don’t have any other choice.
Your Solider, Sailor, Airman or Marine is out there fighting for you…you have to fight for them. Fight your tears and your fears and be strong.

Always remember, there is someone there willing to help you through this.

Hahh so idk if all the s/o’s on here know this or not but leaving hickeys on our men is considered “destruction of government property”. A guy in my hubbys shop came in with a huge ass hickey and got njp’d the day before he was suppose to move up to corporal, hes now allllll the way back down to a private. So just a word of advice (:

If you don't mind my asking, what part of North Carolina will you and your fiance be moving to? That's where I'll be moving with my fiance when he gets back in July, and it'd be nice to know someone there who's got a man in the military...

I know I havent been on here much lately but me and my marine have been married almost 2 months and everythings really coming together great! We have a beautiful 2 story home thats almost completely furnished, a new puppy, and a love we share that only grows stronger everyday. Im not gonna lie being married isnt easy. Theres times when its really REALLLLLY hard but when your with the right person you learn to compromise, you learn that not everything is gonna go as planned (especially since were talking about the military, sometimes dates get cancelled due to a late work schedule, and sometimes you even find yourself cooking his favorite foods for hours just to find out he wont be able to come home for dinner. But that doesnt mean you give up. The best advice I can give any of you is to NEVER go to bed mad at eachother, be grateful for the oppurtunity to lie with eachother at night and for the chance to be able to see his face come home from work. We found out that theres a good chance hes gonna be leaving in December for afghanistan so instead of being upset and crying im making the best out of the time I have with him and im not taking a moment spent with him for granted<3
